Hi!
Read this scripture this morning and thought you might enjoy this reminder. Especially since we have those moments when we want our tongue to whip someone into shape--after their instigation, of course :-)
Yet, really, we know this isn't the best way to handle it. And afterwards we may feel ashamed or sorry, right? ...
Right?
Well...maybe you may think so after reading Ephesians 4: 26, 27:
"Be wrathful, but do not sin; do not let the sun set while you are still angry; do not give the Devil an opportunity."
Don't you think this advice is timely, though maybe sometimes difficult to apply? What is one situation that may cause us the need to remember this scripture?
The commentary went like this:
"It would be naive to think that pride will never surface in a marriage. We need to recognize it and address it promptly. Failure to heed God's Word can lead to needless distress.
"On occasion, my husband and I have not applied Ephesians 4:26, 27," lamented a woman. "The result has been some of the worst nights' sleep I've ever had!"
How much better it is to discuss matters right away with reconciliation as the goal! Of course, marriage mates may need to give each other a little time to cool down.
It is also fitting to pray for Jehovah's help to get in the right frame of mind. Thus includes having a humble spirit, which will help you to focus on the problem, not on yourself, lest you aggravate the situation. Col. 3:12, 13.
Humility and modesty help a married person focus on the strengths of his or her mate."
Wow!
Humility and modesty...Don't we just love it when others put this qualities into practice :-? Won't they just love us if we do?
Our new/old saying is: "If we don't see it, Be it!" Even better if we do see it...Imagine the peace!
